I have to say that the single most gratifying part of being an actress and on-camera personality is knowing that I am inspiring people. That’s been my life goal since I was a little kid, when I thought I’d be a stand-up comedian and spend my life making people laugh (until I realized how hard it was to do stand-up that is!). Comedy is, after all, the perfect remedy for just about any problem, right? I still do love to make people laugh, smile and feel comfortable and confident to just be themselves. I think being on camera shows people that you can get out there and do what you love!
True, it’s hard work. VERY hard work. Plus there’s so much crap to tread through (stereotypes, your looks and even having an exact shade of hair color). Then there’s a fear of failure. Let me tell you, I’m nervous every time I hop on camera, but I feel the fear and do it anyway, knowing that I might just be helping someone else overcome that fear and inspire them.
My little spiel is a reaction to an adorable video the sweetest girl from Germany, Vanessa (who is gorgeous!) just created—shown above. I know Vanessa well, as we’re both huge fans of The Vampire Diaries, a show we both review. She says that, if she could hang out with any two people on a give day, it’d be me and Ian Somerhalder—a man we both drool over quite often (around the 4:00 minute mark)! Those of you who love TVD know that man’s not just a pretty face. He inspires the world ten times over, and is someone I truly admire and look up to.
Vanessa’s video really touched my heart today (my eyes are watering as I write this). I’ve been so busy, working my ass off to be able to pay my bills and still do what I’m passionate about. To know that someone from the other side of the world is inspired by my work means more than anything in the world to me.
Thank you Vanessa!
And thank you to all of my amazing twitter followers who shower me with love every day. I love you guys!
